UNRAVELLING THE GIFT OF FORGIVENESS - R A H I Y A

I COULDN’T BELIEVE WHAT MY FRIEND ASKED ME TO DO!!

Everyone likes to receive gift not unless you are quite unique, generally speaking we love to be on the receiving end.

THE GIFT

Who wants to unravel Today’s gift ? of cause we  are unravelling is  the gift of Forgiveness. This is one of those topics  that is not so openly talked about, but I am persuaded  that  as long as you are  living on earth  you  will experience some  kind of  offence or someone stepping on your  toes betrayal or violating in some way.

Our human nature plays out and we do the most natural thing we often hold grudges, bitterness and hatred towards those that have offended us. In some instances you could understand why someone will have hardened their heart and are unwilling to forgive.

LIFE LESSONS

personal experience taught me a lot about myself during this time. I had allowed the unforgiveness to grow and birthed into intense bitterness towards those who had violated me.

I didn’t  realise  how  much  it had affected  me, until I realised  that it was really eating  me up. I wasn’t eating and sleeping well of the pain I carried that for a very long time.

To  cut a long  story  short a dear friend prayed with me but also asked me a  question that  never entered  my imagination !!!!  She asked if I could find it in my heart   to pray for them. Initially I thought my friend had “lost a screw or 2 in the head” thought she was mad.

ACTION REQUIRED

Eventually and gradually after wrestling I did start praying for them, I tell  you no lie it did not come naturally, in my  mind they were not  deserving of the gift  of Forgiveness  not after  what they did to me.

If anything they needed a double for my pain the inflicted   on me. The human fleshly side of me was definitely at work then.

Sorry just keeping it real, that’s how I felt at the time. Eventually I was able to pray for them and that was just the beginning of the journey unravelling the gift of forgiveness. I was able to forgive them and let go, but I reminded myself that in as much as I forgave them it was more for me.

FREEDOM

The feeling was good felt light and free and now have adopted a different approach and that’s to not let things fester on for too long.
I just deal with it there and then and try to move on and live as peaceful as I can …I think I’m generally a calm person by nature. .hmm just saying)

Sometimes we lay this box hidden because we don’t want to confront past hurt or relive the experiences and that’s understandable but until we get to a place where we decide to let go and be free the box will remain part of you and even though you don’t physically carry it around everywhere it goes with you.

Acknowledging and appreciating that our induvial experiences, pain, hurt is very different and we cannot down play each other’s experiences so we need to remember that.

HOPE

This post I hope has encouraged you in some way and has had some positive insight that might help you on your journey to forgive.

Choose to give the Gift of Forgiveness today or you may be the one receiving forgiveness… be thankful in all things *

*Colossians 3:13

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

I hope you find the strength to Forgive and Receive Forgiveness
